New skincare routine

I finally got an appointment with a dermatologist yesterday. The reason I wanted to see one is because my acne has come back. The products I was using in my previous  post Update Skin Regime stopped working. My skin has just got quite bad again and definitely needed the touch of a professional.

The dermatologist was so nice. She couldn't believe that I had seen one  before and was still  breaking out in spots. She said anyone that sees her always leaves happy and there acne never comes back. She prescribed me Antibiotics, Epiduo gel, and a lotion. She then said I need to purchase Cetaphil cleanser. I was so pleased and really felt like I'm going to get good results.

What I learnt from seeing the dermatologist was that I need to find a good routine that kills the acne and keeps it away, then I can maintain it. It's not curable but I can stick to products that work for me. Also if I want to spend a bit of money I can go and see a doctor called in Hammersmith hospital who specialises in cosmetic treatment for acne scaring. The dermatologist said he is the best for getting rid of scarring. Im not sure of his name but I can find out.

The products I am using are, a gel that contains Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% and Adapalene 1 %. This product will dry my skin out dramatically so she gave me a lotion. It has bleach init so you have to use it sparingly and wash your hands after applying it.

I'm so excited and reassured.  I really advise anyone with acne to see a dermatologist. Other products are good and you can still use certain ones like a the Cetaphil cleanser but you just need to check first with the dermatologist to make sure they do not contain any ingredients that will not mix well with the gel and lotion.

The link to the Epiduo gel has a link to buy the gel. You don't have to do that you can ask your doctor for it. Its just to show you what it is.
